Spark Plug Tips
Back to Tips

Acquired from Gl1800.org

Here's a couple opinions concerning the spark plug you may choose for your next tune-up.

If you want to go to the Platinum, you can get the following.
Autolite Platinum = AP3923
Autolite Double Platinum = APP3923
I have the Double Platinum and will probably never have to change my plugs again.

You should change your plugs at least every 30,000 miles. Use either NGK or Denso. The non platinum work fine, the only advantage to the platinum is that they last longer. If you use platinum be sure to use anti-sieze on the threads and don't leave them in for longer than 60,000 miles or you may not get them out again. If you leave them in for longer the bike may run okay because the computer will compensate for the bad plugs, but it is hard on the rest of the ignition system. I know people will argue but consider this, it takes about an hour and $12.00 to change all 6 plugs.
