Passenger PTT
Tips Acquired from
Gl1800.org post by Brian Fenner You need to find connector C31 underneath your seat (see picture below). NOTE: This photo shows the optional passenger audio controller C42 that is connected between the mating female/male connectors of C31 Using an ohm meter trace pin 1 of the passenger headset cord to connector C31 so you know which wire you need to run through another switch. Once you trace this wire to the connector C31 just cut it and run it through a switch and back again...........................you are basically turning on/off the passenger microphone rather than having it be "hot" all the time. I would recommend getting a push button type switch that makes contact when pushed, so when your passenger needs to talk they just push the switch in. When not being pushed the mic circuit is open therefore eliminating the wind noise when your not talking on the intercom. Works slick! Pictures acquired from same post. Have heard the Pin pic was created by ?.
If you know, let me know so I can give them credit.
Passenger PTT Install
I spliced it in the headset cable right before it plugs into the bike's
wiring harness under the seat. I did remove the storage compartment to make
mounting the switch a little easier. I can't remember the colors and don't
have my service manual with me but here is a sketch to the best of my memory
(which isn't much). |
