Mud Flap Tips
Back to Tips

Tip write-up by: Brian Fenner

Front:
I had the Hondaline unit already installed but I knew it definitely wasn't long enough.....

So, I ran to Walmart and bought a pair of rubber / stainless steel mud flaps for cars (Groboski brand, measure 13 X 7")), about $7 - 8.  They are 2 -piece and riveted at 3 places to hold the rubber to the metal. I  drilled out the rivets so I could use the rubber part only. The size of it fit perfectly....all I had to do is cut 2 slots in the upper portion for  slots on the backside of the Hondaline chrome extender (about an 1.5" of the rubber is behind  the chrome flap). Then I used waterproof grip cement (made for plastic and rubber) and glued it on. It is solid as a rock...not going to come lose. I was going to bolt it to the chrome extender but that wouldn't of looked nice and clean. Approx. 4.5" long total. The bottom of it is below the front cowl.

The end result looks sharp if I do say so myself. The ribbed design on the rubber looks awesome with the chrome upper portion of the Hondaline unit.

Rear:
The rear unit is from Walmart also and is just a larger all rubber Groboski mud flap unit that I attached to the receiver of the Bushtec hitch. This also turned out pretty good.

My goal with all accessory installations is to try and make them look
factory. I don't like the "add-on" look.
