- The right-side motor crash bar clearance prevents installation of the
securing clamp. Left-side clearance is ok. Any suggestions?
- Mine went right on, move it forward or backwards to clear bar.
- Tried that, no luck. The crash bar-motor clearance is different from left
compared to right sides. I'm wondering if the crash-bar can be adjusted. If
not, I'll have to find boards that use thinner bar clamps.
- If those clamps are the hindged ones, just remove the retaining clip, remove
the pin, seperate the halfs, and now everything should go together
- Removing the hinge pin and splitting the clamp did the trick
- Someone on the GWRRA board said that the passenger floorboard riser kits
for the 1500 Interstate and Aspencade will work on the 1800. Might be worth
looking into?
- Try kuryakyn transformer boards for the passenger, they work great, and
let the co-rider change foot position. she'll appreciate them on a long or
short trip.
- While riding last week, I stood on the footpegs to clear a traffic >
bump, and I got quite a surprise! The left footpeg came completely off,
dumping me back on the seat. > > On inspection, I found the footpeg
mount casting had broken clean into 2 parts. Half the bracket was still
screwed to the frame, the other half (with the footpeg) was lying in the
road. The bike hasn't been dropped and there's no evidence of anything ever
having impacted the peg or mount. Looks like a bad casting, with a clean,
lengthwise fracture. I do recall evidence of a small fracture when I cleaned
the bike last week but didn't think much of it at the time. I called my
local dealer (120 miles away), and they asked to see the bike to provide a
warranty replacement. I asked how I was to get the bike to them, and they
said I could drive it in. I'm not comfortable with that (2+ hours including
I-25 without a left foot peg!) not to mention it kills a full day for me to
get a bike back to Albuquerque. After some discussion, I agreed to ship them
the mount, they would inspect it, and then ship me a replacement.
