Bags and Trunk Tips

Trunk and remote modification
When you unlock the storage compartments with the remote control and manually open them with the release lever under the trunk, you then shut the storage compartment and try and open them again (they have not been locked). The only way mine will open is if I use the remote unlock again.

Big Red in all its wisdom apparently thought that would be a nifty security feature in the event you walked off and forgot to relock your bags and trunk after unlocking them with the remote. If you want your bags and trunk to stay unlocked, you need to cycle through the process manually. In other words, use the remote to unlock the trunk, open it, close it manually, then open and close it again manually and the trunk and bags should stay unlocked.

I figured out how to get the saddle bags to open easily!

1) Open trunk and remove five screws and plastic cover at back of trunk to reveal the micky mouse mechanism.
2) Note the two cables that go to the saddlebags latches. They have yellow cable ferruls pressed into a metal slot.
3) The yellow ferules have three slots in them. Both of them are probably pressed into the metal slot in the outer yellow slot. Using a screwdriver pry the yellow cable end out of the metal slot.
4) Re-install the yellow ferule into the metal slot in the SECOND or MIDDLE yellow slot. Due to both sides. 5. You have now tightened up the cable and the bags should open like sliced bread!

There is one more slot in case the cables stretch any more in the future.

Trunk Access

~ Get your self some aligator test leads and a 6mm allen wrench.  Remove the seat then unplug the big grey connector that is located right at the trunk.  You will want the end that has the flat pins in it there is a red and yellow wire in the #2 and #3 position they lead to the lock/unlock motor. Using the jumpers wires connect it to the pin going to the yellow wire to a good ground or the neg battery terminal, take the other connect it to the positive battery terminal, and just touch the pin going to the red wire.

You should hear the tale tale sign of the trunk and bads unlocking
